Position Summary
Fiberglass Hawaii is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual to coordinate domestic and international shipments of hazardous materials. This role is responsible for preparing shipping documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and working closely with internal teams, freight carriers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process hazardous materials shipping documentation, including review of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Dangerous Goods declarations
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including IMDG, IATA, and DOT requirements
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments via ocean and air freight
- Communicate with freight forwarders, carriers, vendors, and customers regarding shipment scheduling, tracking, and delivery
- Work closely with warehouse staff to ensure proper packaging, labeling, and handling of hazardous materials
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation
- Assist in resolving shipment discrepancies, delays, or damage claims
- Perform general administrative and office support tasks as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (email and Microsoft Excel as a minimum)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with hazardous materials shipping and/or regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with international freight logistics (ocean and/or air)
- Experience in composites, marine, or surf-related industries
- IMDG and/or IATA Dangerous Goods certification
Work Environment
- This position is primarily based in an office setting, with occasional interaction in warehouse areas. The role may involve coordination with teams handling hazardous materials. Training may be provided for the right candidate
Compensation
Hourly rate of $22.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and certifications. Candidates with prior hazardous materials shipping experience and/or IMDG or IATA certification may be considered at the higher end of the range.
