Job Details: This is skilled work in the general maintenance and repair of RTS facilities, equipment and passenger amenities.Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under close supervision. Essential Job Functions Provides training and instruction regarding facilities maintenance. Inspects mechanical equipment, evaluates performance, and recommends/performs maintenance and repair.

Schedules for maintenance and inspections on shop and facility equipment.

Maintains and operates power saws, drills, cranes, pressure washers, lifts, and related equipment.

Works from manuals, sketches, blueprints, and instructional material.

Performs routine cleaning of transit facilities, trims grass, trims tree limbs, picks up trash, treats for insects, paints, and repairs structures.

Performs minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work as required to maintain RTS grounds and buildings, including replacing HVAC filters and light bulbs, cleaning, and painting.

Rebuilds and installs pumps, generators, and equipment.

Maintains gates and gate operators and coordinates the repair of security and access systems.

Maintains and repairs the automated bus wash.

Performs fire extinguisher inspection and inventory. Performs annual departmental asset inventory. Procures materials to perform routine maintenance activities.

Coordinate activities with contractors.

Performs monthly maintenance and record keeping for fuel storage tanks and equipment.

Drives vehicles and tows trailers to and from work sites.

Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.

Non-essential Job Functions May be required to transport, mix, handle, or use hazardous materials (other than cans of gasoline, batteries, pumping fuel, or access to normal janitorial cleaning materials) or may be responsible for facilities or equipment carrying current, fluids, or gas that could endanger the public or other employees.

May perform clean-up of petroleum or coolant discharge on the roadway and complete required documentation.

Prepare detailed records and reports promptly.

Performs ground maintenance and maintains ground-keeping equipment. Repairs of irrigation system equipment.

Responds to calls for removing obstacles from streets.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.

Education And Experience Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and four (4) years of experience in construction and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
